Indigo Bunting, Shenandoah

All of these July wildflowers were blooming along the parking lot to Skyland Lodge during one of our frequent visits to Shenandoah. I sat in the car for a bit and sketched the branching and flower composition. This tall bold wildflower is about head high and I look for it annually in July.  It is a Cow parsnip, Heracleum maximum and is the only members of the parsnip family native to North America.
